PRICING & TIMING
Translation projects are generally priced per original word. Most documents have a “word count” feature, which makes it easy to calculate the price of your project once you get a per-word price. For formats that do not have this feature, there are ways to count the words and I’d be glad to explain that to you if you’re not certain.
Once you know how many words you need translated, I can tell you how long it will take. As a rule of thumb, general subject areas take 1 full day per 2500-3000 words. More technical subjects require more research, so they take a little longer and cost a little more. See below for more details.
Also, depending on how much work is involved in consulting and/or managing your project, I’ll add on a reasonable hourly rate for that.
General subjects (corporate communications, general information, etc.)
normal deadline (> 1 full day/2500-3000 words): $0.12 per French word*
rushed deadline (< 1 full day/2500-3000 words): $0.14 per French word*
rushed deadline (< 1 full day/2500-3000 words): $0.14 per French word*
Technical subjects (pharmaceutical, technology, legal, etc.)
normal deadline (> 1 full day/2000-2500 words): $0.14 per French word*
rushed deadline (< 1 full day/2000-2500 words): $0.16 per French word*
